International newsrooms that report on Africa are often full of white journalists (and I’m one of them). But just how white or how ethnically diverse are they?
To get a better idea, I did a survey of 47 international newsrooms that report on Africa, asking them how racially diverse they are, and what they’re doing to prevent discrimination. I also spoke with a dozen black journalist to ask them about their experience.
